Lisburn YMCA was established to work with an at-risk target group of young people and adults who were not attending any other youth provision and who were regularly involved in anti-social behaviour. An initial commitment to a drop-in concept has, over the past 17 years, built up firm relationships of trust with staff, volunteers and members, opening doors to a range of programmes serving the needs of young people and their communities. Lisburn YMCA works in partnership with other agencies to achieve the most effective delivery to the target group. The YMCA seeks to provide not only young people, adults’ and outreach services but also to work with parents, local communities leaders and statutory agencies to ultimately reinforce long term change in the target group through the environment in which they live and learn. |
